TraceLink Launches OPUS Agents for Supply Chain Networks

by Daisy Mae D.

in Supply chain and Logistics

TraceLink has introduced OPUS Agents and a new operating model it describes as an “Agentic Business Network,” aimed at transforming how global supply chains are managed. The company also announced the rollout of OPUS Agents, no-code enterprise AI agents designed to execute tasks across end-to-end supply chain processes within a governed and permissioned environment.

The launch reflects ongoing challenges in supply chain operations, including fragmented systems, manual workflows, and a shortage of specialized talent needed to manage increasingly complex global partner networks. TraceLink stated that its new model is designed to support continuous coordination across trading partners through the use of AI agents operating alongside human teams.

According to the company, the Agentic Business Network represents a shift from traditional supply chain structures that rely on disconnected systems and point-to-point integrations. Instead, it proposes a more integrated environment where transactions, collaboration, and reporting occur in real time, supported by AI-driven agents embedded within operational workflows.

TraceLink President and CEO Shabbir Dahod said the approach is intended to help organizations scale execution across supply networks by combining human expertise with AI-based automation. He noted that this model is designed to improve service levels, reduce operational disruptions, and support more consistent delivery outcomes across global supply chains.

At the center of the system are OPUS Agents, which are described as no-code AI tools capable of performing specific supply chain functions. These include tasks such as validating purchase orders, reviewing invoice data, managing operational exceptions, and supporting coordination between suppliers, manufacturers, logistics providers, and distributors.

Unlike traditional AI tools that function primarily as assistants or stand-alone applications, OPUS Agents are designed to operate directly within live enterprise workflows. The company stated that these agents function as permissioned users within systems, with defined roles, access controls, and auditability to support regulated industry requirements.

The OPUS platform enables users to create and configure agents using a no-code approach based on natural language instructions. These instructions define objectives, tasks, decision rules, and operational logic, allowing business users to deploy AI agents without requiring software development or coding expertise.

TraceLink also emphasized that the system is built on a metadata-driven network architecture that connects business objects across organizations. This structure is intended to support data consistency and enable AI systems to make context-aware decisions across multi-enterprise environments.

The company described OPUS Agents as part of a broader “digital workforce” model in which AI agents operate alongside human employees. These agents are assigned specific roles and responsibilities within defined compliance frameworks and are designed to produce audit trails for all actions, supporting transparency and regulatory oversight.

TraceLink stated that the system is intended to gradually increase automation levels as trust and performance are established, beginning with human supervision and progressing toward greater autonomy in controlled environments.

The platform is built on TraceLink’s existing global supply chain network, which connects more than 300,000 organizations exchanging large volumes of product transactions annually. The company said this infrastructure provides the foundation for deploying agent-based execution across real-world supply chain processes.

To support early adoption, TraceLink has launched an exclusive access program with selected customers. These pilot implementations are focused on identifying use cases across procurement, manufacturing coordination, order management, and disruption response, while ensuring alignment with regulatory and operational requirements.

The company said these initiatives represent an evolution from traditional integration-based supply chains toward network-driven digital execution, with AI agents increasingly supporting coordinated operations across enterprises.

TraceLink, founded in 2009, provides supply chain network solutions for life sciences and healthcare industries, focusing on improving visibility, compliance, and operational coordination across global supply ecosystems.
