Closure Systems International (CSI), a global manufacturer of closure solutions, has announced the acquisition of two beverage closure compression molding facilities from packaging company Amcor. The facilities were previously part of Amcor’s Rigid Packaging Solutions North America operations.
The acquired sites are located in Erie, Pennsylvania and Hattiesburg, Mississippi, and specialize in producing closures for high-volume beverage products such as carbonated soft drinks, bottled water, and hot-fill beverages. The Erie facility spans approximately 183,000 square feet and has an established production history, while the Hattiesburg site covers about 119,000 square feet and includes modern manufacturing layouts with available capacity for expansion.
CSI currently operates nine manufacturing facilities globally, producing closure systems and capping equipment used in the beverage, food, and industrial sectors. The addition of the two North American facilities is expected to expand CSI’s production capacity and strengthen its regional manufacturing network, particularly in beverage-related markets.
The company said the acquisition supports its broader strategy to improve production efficiency, expand material innovation, and increase supply options for customers. CSI also indicated plans to focus on manufacturing improvements, including lightweight packaging development and expanded use of recycled materials in its production processes.
The integration of the facilities is expected to take place gradually, with some production transitions scheduled through 2026. CSI stated that it will prioritize maintaining consistent supply, product quality, and operational safety during the transition period.
CSI Chief Executive Officer Floyd Needham said the acquisition strengthens the company’s ability to meet demand across global markets and enhances its manufacturing capabilities in North America. He also noted that the company intends to build on the existing expertise of employees at both facilities.
Amcor, which focuses on packaging solutions for industries including food, health, and consumer goods, said the transaction aligns with its broader portfolio strategy as it continues to concentrate on core packaging operations.
The acquisition reflects ongoing consolidation and investment activity within the packaging and manufacturing sector, as companies look to optimize production networks and expand capabilities across key markets.
