The United States is entering a new phase of space-industry growth, with commercial constellations, national security missions and civil space programs driving demand for satellites and advanced technologies. More than 3,700 objects were launched from the United States in 2025, nearly ten times the level recorded in 2019, highlighting the rapid expansion of the country’s space economy.
This growth is creating greater demand for specialized components, advanced electronics, testing facilities and skilled workers. Some areas remain dependent on a small number of domestic suppliers, while limited manufacturing and certification capacity can contribute to longer lead times and higher costs.
To support continued expansion, the U.S. space sector is increasingly focusing on supplier diversification, dual sourcing, expanded testing capacity and stronger coordination between government and industry. Better visibility into future demand could also give smaller suppliers greater confidence to invest in equipment, facilities and workforce development.
With space increasingly becoming an important part of technology, defense and communications infrastructure, strengthening the industrial base can help the United States build a more resilient and scalable space supply chain. Continued investment in manufacturing capacity, qualification infrastructure and workforce pipelines could position the country for sustained growth in the global space economy.
