in Import/Export Statistics

Malaysia’s exports continued to show strong momentum in July 2026, rising 38% year on year to RM193.6 billion, despite moderating from the 45% growth recorded in June. The performance highlights the resilience of Malaysia’s export sector as global demand for electronics, energy products and manufactured goods remains strong.

Electrical and electronic products led the expansion, with exports jumping 51%, reflecting continued demand linked to semiconductors and artificial intelligence. Petroleum product exports increased 27%, while liquefied natural gas rose 14% and palm oil and related products gained 7.8%.

Malaysia also recorded broad-based growth across major trading partners. Exports to the United States increased 58%, while shipments to China rose 49%. Deliveries to other major markets also recorded double-digit growth, demonstrating the country’s expanding role in regional and global supply chains.

Imports increased 36% to RM171.14 billion, supported by stronger purchases of capital and intermediate goods used in manufacturing and assembly. As a result, Malaysia’s trade surplus widened to RM22.46 billion, up 52% from a year earlier.

The strong trade performance underscores Malaysia’s position as an important manufacturing and logistics hub in Asia, with growing demand for technology products and industrial components supporting continued opportunities across its supply-chain ecosystem.
