Canada’s largest port has launched an open-access, web-based visibility dashboard designed to give shippers, carriers and logistics partners clearer insights into intermodal cargo flows, improving coordination and resilience across one of North America’s most critical trade gateways. The tool reflects an industry push toward real-time data transparency to help manage complex supply-chain dynamics more effectively.
The dashboard provides daily performance metrics across key transport modes — including trains, vessels and container trucks — and offers up to two years of historical data to help users spot trends, allocate resources and anticipate bottlenecks before they affect operations. Metrics span roughly a dozen intermodal indicators, giving freight planners and port partners a shared view of cargo movements and performance at terminals.
By enhancing operational visibility, the port authority says the tool will support more informed decision-making on day-to-day logistics and help stakeholders identify delays, optimise infrastructure use and respond to disruptions quickly. Officials also expect the information to support broader national objectives such as economic resilience and trade diversification as Canada’s supply chains face evolving challenges.
The dashboard is part of a larger Connect+ supply chain optimisation programme, which aims to improve the predictability and coordination of cargo movements across the Port of Vancouver by integrating data streams and operational insights for the benefit of industry users.
Logistics and supply-chain professionals often stress the importance of shared visibility: tools like this help reduce uncertainty in scheduling, shorten dwell times and promote coordination across carriers, terminals and inland transport partners — ultimately supporting smoother flow of goods through critical trade hubs.
