The Indian startup ecosystem is evolving rapidly and expanding into various industries, including logistics. These startups are addressing traditional challenges through digital technology, automation, and innovative solutions, setting new standards for efficiency and customer satisfaction. Historically, India relied on imported technology for warehouse automation. However, homegrown companies like Falcon Autotech are now making significant changes. Sandeep Bansal, Chief Business Officer of Falcon Autotech, highlighted the development of cutting-edge automation solutions tailored for the Indian market, which are reducing costs and enhancing warehouse operations.
The last-mile delivery system in India is also undergoing a significant transformation. According to FarEye’s report titled ‘The Year of Change: Eye on the Last-Mile 2.0,’ startups play a crucial role in this evolution. Companies like Locus are using artificial intelligence (AI) to optimize delivery routes, reduce logistics costs, and ensure timely deliveries. Locus has facilitated more than a billion deliveries across at least 30 countries, saving over $288 million in logistics costs. Startups are revolutionizing supply chain management as well. B2B procurement marketplace ProcMart is digitizing procurement processes and optimizing supply chains.
Sachin Jain, CFO and CSO of ProcMart, explained how their platform integrates advanced AI technologies and connects various stakeholders, offering efficient sourcing solutions and strategic collaborations with local vendors. Sustainability is another key focus for Indian startups. They are adopting electric vehicles (EVs) and developing Electric Vehicle as a Service (EVaaS) models, which are gradually gaining popularity and recognition in the Indian logistics landscape.
