India has initiated discussions with New Zealand on a potential free trade agreement as both nations seek to enhance economic collaboration and strengthen supply chain integration.
India’s Minister for Commerce and Industry, Piyush Goyal, met with New Zealand’s Minister for Trade and Investment, Todd McClay, on Sunday (March 16), according to a statement from the Press Information Bureau. The talks aim to improve market access and foster trade growth between the two countries.
The negotiations come at a time when India, along with other nations, is navigating evolving trade policies. New Zealand joins a growing list of countries engaging in trade discussions with India. The European Union and India are working toward finalizing a trade deal this year, while the United Kingdom and India have revived negotiations on a long-standing trade agreement.
