Ayala Corporation has announced plans to sell a 40% stake in its subsidiary, AC Logistics, to Denmark-based AP Moller Capital. This strategic move aims to enhance AC Logistics’ operational capabilities to meet the increasing demand for logistics services in the Philippines.
In a statement released on Thursday, Ayala Corporation confirmed that it has entered into an agreement with AP Moller Capital, through EMIF II Holding III BV, for the latter to acquire the minority stake in AC Logistics via share subscription. Specific details, including the transaction amount, have not been disclosed, as discussions regarding the final subscription price are ongoing.
Ayala Corporation’s President and CEO, Cezar Consing, emphasized the necessity of robust logistics infrastructure in an archipelago like the Philippines, stating, “A country of 7,000 islands requires considerable logistics infrastructure, and we would like to help address this need.” He expressed confidence that partnering with AP Moller Capital would provide effective solutions to these logistical challenges.
AP Moller Capital, an infrastructure fund manager focusing on transport and logistics sectors, views this investment as an opportunity to contribute to the development of the Philippines’ logistics industry. Lars Reno Jakobsen, Senior Partner at AP Moller Capital, remarked, “We are proud and looking forward to work alongside AC Logistics and Ayala Corporation to accelerate growth and continue to provide customers with market-leading supply chain solutions.”
Established in 2021, AC Logistics offers integrated supply chain solutions, including cold chain services, freight forwarding, national distribution, and contract logistics. The company operates a nationwide network of distribution centers and maintains a fleet of transportation assets, such as temperature-controlled trucks, to meet diverse client requirements across the Philippines.
This planned acquisition is anticipated to address the growing and increasingly complex logistics requirements of the Philippines’ rapidly expanding economy. By assisting businesses in building cost-efficient supply chains, the partnership also aims to contribute to greater food security across the country.
The completion of this transaction is subject to the agreement on the final subscription price and the fulfillment of several conditions precedent, including securing regulatory approvals and achieving certain business milestones.
Ayala Corporation’s collaboration with AP Moller Capital reflects its commitment to expanding AC Logistics into an industry leader capable of delivering high-quality logistics solutions in the Philippines. Erry Hardianto, President and CEO of AC Logistics, stated, “We are confident AP Moller Capital is the best partner for unlocking the many opportunities in this sector.”
This development signifies a significant investment in the Philippine logistics sector, with both companies aiming to enhance infrastructure and service offerings to meet the evolving needs of the market.
