Central and Eastern European economies recorded stronger export growth in the second quarter of 2026, with all countries in the region accelerating goods exports compared with the first quarter. Croatia and Hungary led with double-digit growth, while Slovenia posted a notable rebound in exports outside the European Union. Export activity to EU partners also improved across most markets, highlighting the resilience of regional trade despite ongoing global tariff pressures.
The stronger export performance signals improving trade momentum across Central and Eastern Europe, supported by recovering external demand and stronger regional supply-chain activity. Croatia, Hungary, and Slovenia also recorded improvements in their trade balances, while Czechia, Hungary, and Slovakia maintained trade surpluses, reinforcing the region’s role in European manufacturing and cross-border trade.
