Taiwan is strengthening its high-speed transport network with the arrival of a new shinkansen train model from Japan, supporting future passenger and urban development.
The first 12 train cars have been delivered to Kaohsiung, with new trains scheduled to enter service from July 2027. The fleet is expected to increase peak-hour transport capacity by 25%.
Based on the latest shinkansen technology, the trains are designed to reduce noise, vibration and electricity consumption, supporting more efficient rail operations.
The expansion highlights the role of modern rail infrastructure in improving urban connectivity, passenger capacity and sustainable transportation, while strengthening the wider transport network linking major economic centers.
