Vietnam’s export revenue for agricultural, forestry, and fishery products is projected to reach a record-breaking $62.5 billion in 2024, reflecting a significant growth rate of 18.7% compared to the previous year. This marks the highest export level achieved to date, underscoring the sector’s resilience and potential despite global economic challenges.
The trade surplus for the agricultural industry also reached a historic high of $17.9 billion, a 46.8% increase over 2023. These figures highlight the efforts of farmers and agricultural enterprises in enhancing product quality and expanding their reach in global markets.
Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Phung Duc Tien credited this success to strategic initiatives, including the development of logistics infrastructure and policies to improve the competitiveness of Vietnamese agricultural products. A key project proposal, titled “Developing the Logistics Service System – Enhancing the Quality and Competitiveness of Vietnamese Agricultural Products by 2030,” has been submitted to the Prime Minister. This initiative aims to drive long-term growth and sustainability in the agricultural sector.
Throughout 2024, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development implemented supportive policies for businesses and producers, focusing on trade promotion and market expansion. These measures facilitated exports to major markets such as China, the United States, the European Union, and Japan, while also exploring opportunities in emerging markets, including the Middle East, Africa, and the Halal food sector.
As the year concludes, the Ministry anticipates exceptional export achievements, solidifying Vietnam’s position in global agricultural trade. These advancements not only contribute significantly to the national economy but also improve the livelihoods of millions of Vietnamese farmers.
