Vietnamese enterprises are adjusting their export strategies to align with evolving international trade requirements, focusing on sustainability, digitalization, and compliance with stricter global standards.
Addressing Global Market Demands
Nguyen Dinh Tung, CEO of Vina T&T Import Export Service Trading Co. Ltd., highlighted that increasing technical trade barriers in global markets are prompting exporters to prioritize quality assurance and regulatory compliance. Vietnamese agricultural products have recently gained access to new markets, including pomelos in New Zealand, passion fruit in Australia, and coconuts in the United States.
Tung also identified opportunities for expansion in the Middle East and Halal-certified markets, emphasizing the need for businesses to meet specific regulatory and certification standards to succeed in these regions.
Le Thi Giau, Chairwoman of Binh Tay Food, noted that investments in environmentally friendly production processes and modernized manufacturing facilities could help businesses meet evolving market expectations.
Quality Assurance for Sustainable Trade
Nguyen Nguyen Phuong, Deputy Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Industry and Trade, pointed to Vietnam’s extensive free trade agreements (FTAs) as a means to facilitate access to global markets. He noted that compliance with international safety and quality standards, including limits on chemical residues in food products, is becoming increasingly critical for export success.
Ho Thi Quyen, Deputy Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Trade and Investment Promotion Centre (ITPC) emphasized the importance of adhering to regulatory requirements in key markets such as the United States, the European Union, and Japan. She recommended the adoption of advanced quality control technologies, the establishment of rigorous inspection protocols, and collaboration with independent certification bodies to ensure transparency and compliance. As Vietnamese firms continue to navigate evolving trade policies, their focus on sustainability and digitalization is expected to strengthen their competitiveness in the global marketplace.
