Brazil and US Resume Tariff Dialogue

in Tariffs & Duties

Brazil and the United States have resumed discussions on tariffs, with both sides agreeing to continue technical meetings in the coming weeks before holding another ministerial level meeting.

The discussions focus on trade measures affecting Brazilian exports to the U.S. Following a virtual meeting between senior officials, both countries agreed to maintain dialogue and review the progress of upcoming technical discussions.

The renewed engagement provides an opportunity to strengthen coordination on tariff policies, market access, and cross border trade flows. Continued discussions could also help businesses better understand the evolving trade environment and plan sourcing, production, and distribution activities across the two markets.

The talks follow the introduction of new U.S. tariffs on Brazilian products in July and a subsequent broader tariff measure. Brazilian officials reiterated their position regarding the measures while both sides agreed to keep communication channels open.

For businesses operating across Brazil and the United States, the continuation of technical and ministerial discussions will remain relevant to trade planning, import costs, sourcing strategies, and international supply chain management.
