The UK’s Agriculture and Horticulture Development Board (AHDB) recently participated in the World Food Expo (WOFEX) in Manila to explore opportunities for expanding pork exports. During the four-day event, six UK exporters joined AHDB at the British Meat Pavilion, where they engaged with key importers and stakeholders. The expo provided a platform to strengthen existing business relationships and explore new opportunities in the Philippines, the UK’s third-largest export market for pork.
In the first five months of 2024, UK pork shipments to the Philippines reached a value of £16.2 million, marking a 16% increase compared to the same period last year. AHDB also collaborated with the British Chamber of Commerce in the Philippines to host a business-to-business seminar, attended by 50 importers and distributors. The seminar included a panel discussion with officials from the UK and Philippine governments, as well as AHDB’s head of international trade development, Jonathan Eckley. The discussion focused on exploring further opportunities and addressing challenges within the Philippine meat market.

He also noted the importance of building and maintaining business connections, with AHDB providing ongoing support to help UK exporters thrive on the global stage.
