SEG Solar (SEG), a U.S. producer of photovoltaic (PV) modules, and Kawasan Industri Terpadu Batang (Grand Batang City), Indonesia’s largest state-owned enterprise (SOE) industrial estate, have signed a Land Utilization Agreement to establish a photovoltaic industrial park in Batang Regency, Java. The signing ceremony was attended by SEG’s Founder and COO, Jun Zhuge, and Ngurah Wirawan, President Director of Grand Batang City. The new SEG Indonesia PV industrial park, located in Grand Batang City, Central Java Province, will be Southeast Asia’s largest photovoltaic industrial park, with an investment exceeding $500 million USD and spanning over 40 hectares.
The park will feature factories for the production and assembly of silicon ingots, wafers, cells, and modules, with a total vertical integration capacity of 5GW each for silicon wafers, solar cells, and modules. In the first phase, SEG will build facilities with a 5GW capacity for solar cells and 3GW for modules, expected to be completed by Q2 2025. These facilities will ensure the traceability and stability of core material supplies for SEG’s global module factory, enhancing the reliability of their supply chain. Jun Zhuge highlighted the importance of an integrated industry chain for maintaining legally compliant supply standards and ensuring the provision of clean, traceable green products for markets in the United States, Europe, and Indonesia.
The SEG Indonesia PV industrial park is projected to create over 3,000 jobs, boosting employment and economic growth in the local community. This development supports the global transition towards green, low-carbon energy.
