LONDON — Research and advisory firm Omdia has appointed Theresa Lanowitz as Principal Analyst for vulnerability and risk management within its cybersecurity go-to-market research practice, strengthening its expertise in cybersecurity research and market analysis.

Lanowitz brings extensive experience in software development, cybersecurity strategy, and industry research. She joins Omdia from LevelBlue, the cybersecurity company spun off from AT&T, where she served as Chief Evangelist and was responsible for strategic marketing, communications, public relations, content development, and industry engagement initiatives.

Prior to her role at LevelBlue, Lanowitz spent seven years at Gartner, leading research focused on application quality and security. She also founded and led the independent analyst firm Voke, where she provided research and advisory services for nearly 14 years.

In her new position at Omdia, Lanowitz will focus on vulnerability and risk management, examining how organizations identify, assess, prioritize, and address cybersecurity risks as they adopt emerging technologies. Her research will cover market developments, security tools, and industry practices that influence cybersecurity risk management strategies.

Clint Wheelock, Vice President of Go-to-Market Insights and Advisory at Omdia, said Lanowitz’s background combines practical industry experience, product expertise, and analyst insight, which will support organizations navigating increasingly complex cybersecurity environments.

He noted that vulnerability and risk management have become more challenging as businesses accelerate technology adoption while balancing priorities around security and operational efficiency.

Earlier in her career, Lanowitz held product and marketing leadership roles in the technology sector, including launching the Java development platform JBuilder at Borland and leading strategic marketing efforts for Jini at Sun Microsystems, a distributed computing technology that anticipated many aspects of modern connected-device environments.

Commenting on her appointment, Lanowitz said effective cyber risk management plays an important role in organizational resilience and supports informed decision-making as businesses pursue innovation and digital transformation initiatives.

She added that she looks forward to working with clients to develop proactive security strategies that strengthen trust and resilience as technology continues to evolve, including the growing adoption of artificial intelligence across enterprise environments.

Lanowitz holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science from the University of Pittsburg
