International transport and logistics company Gebrüder Weiss has expanded its operations in Poland, now offering national and international partial and full truckload (LTL/FTL) transport services, along with enhanced warehousing and logistics solutions, including order picking. These additions, effective from early 2025, build upon the company’s existing air and sea freight services introduced in 2020. The expansion has increased the company’s Polish workforce to 70 employees.
Customers can utilize the myGW customer portal for real-time shipment tracking and access to digital documentation. René Stranz, Area Manager for Slovakia and Poland at Gebrüder Weiss, stated that the goal is to provide Polish companies with a comprehensive range of logistics services. By integrating various modes of transport, customers can respond more flexibly to market demands and enhance supply chain efficiency.
Poland has emerged as a significant production and warehousing hub in Europe, with its economy growing three times faster than the EU average in 2024, driven by increased consumer spending. The country serves as a vital trading partner and export market, particularly for German businesses, and plays a crucial role in imports from Asia and the United States. Ongoing infrastructure developments, such as the construction of a new major airport with an international freight center, further bolster Poland’s logistics capabilities.
Gebrüder Weiss currently operates branches in Krakow, Wroclaw, Gdynia, and Warsaw, catering to clients primarily in the high-tech, automotive, consumer goods, and e-commerce sectors. The company also manages storage and order picking for temperature-sensitive pharmaceuticals, providing specialized refrigeration solutions for the pharmaceutical industry.
Looking ahead, Gebrüder Weiss plans to enhance its role as a Lead Logistics Provider to further optimize customer supply chains. According to Maciej Szczyglowski, Country Manager Poland Land & Logistics at Gebrüder Weiss, future expansions may include new logistics terminals in locations such as Wroclaw or Katowice, contingent on economic developments.
