The Port of Baltimore has once again achieved top marks in its security assessment, maintaining this status for the 15th consecutive year. This assessment, conducted by the U.S. Coast Guard Sector Maryland, evaluates security measures across the port’s six state-owned, public marine terminals managed by the Maryland Port Administration.
The annual inspection conducted by the Coast Guard encompasses a comprehensive review of security protocols and procedures at each terminal, including Dundalk, Seagirt, North Locust Point, South Locust Point (which includes a cruise passenger terminal), Fairfield, and Masonville. Key areas of focus include the examination of the Maryland Port Administration’s facility security plan and its cybersecurity annex.
In recent years, the Maryland Port Administration has implemented various physical security enhancements, such as high-mast lighting, reinforced fencing, improved gate and fence line conditions, and enhanced signage. Additionally, the port has strengthened its cybersecurity measures and access control initiatives, including the utilization of a closed circuit television network.
