In a significant operation, Visakhapatnam police have apprehended three individuals accused of trafficking people to Cambodia, where they were allegedly employed in cyber fraud firms. The arrested individuals, identified as Mohammed Amir, Durga Rao, and Sai Kumar, were detained based on a complaint filed by a victim who managed to escape the clutches of the traffickers and return to India.
According to police reports, the accused lured their victims with the promise of lucrative job opportunities abroad. Once in Cambodia, the victims were coerced into working for illegal cyber fraud companies, where they were involved in various online scams. The victims were reportedly subjected to harsh working conditions and were unable to leave their place of employment, effectively trapping them in a foreign country.
The investigation, led by Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crimes) G. Naganna, uncovered that the accused were part of a larger network involved in human trafficking and cybercrime. This network reportedly spans several countries, making the operation complex and multifaceted. Authorities are currently working to dismantle the entire trafficking ring and bring all involved parties to justice.
The police have also issued warnings to the public about the dangers of falling for fraudulent job offers abroad. They urge individuals to verify the authenticity of overseas job opportunities and to be cautious of offers that seem too good to be true.
As the investigation continues, efforts are being made to locate and rescue other victims who may still be trapped in Cambodia. The police are collaborating with international agencies to ensure the safe return of all trafficked individuals.
This incident highlights the growing issue of human trafficking linked to cyber fraud, a concern that has seen a rise with the increasing digitalization of crimes. Law enforcement agencies are stepping up their efforts to combat these crimes and protect vulnerable individuals from falling prey to such schemes.
