Central Asian countries and South Korea are strengthening industrial cooperation through a new agreement focused on investment, technology, infrastructure, critical minerals, and global supply networks.
The agreement was signed during a meeting of industry ministers in Seoul under the C5+1 framework, bringing together Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, and South Korea. The initiative aims to create stronger connections across manufacturing, industrial development, workforce skills, and strategic supply networks.
The participating countries are also exploring opportunities to expand investment and technology cooperation while developing industrial infrastructure and improving access to critical minerals. These efforts could support more connected production networks and create new opportunities for trade and investment between Central Asia and East Asia.
Kazakhstan reported around $12 billion in trade with Central Asian countries and South Korea last year, while more than 1,000 joint manufacturing companies operate in the country. The new cooperation framework is expected to build on these economic links and encourage further industrial activity.
The memorandum of understanding and joint declaration highlight a shared commitment to practical cooperation, stronger industrial connections, and more resilient regional supply networks.
