Argentina has received approval to begin exporting poultry, pork, beef cuts on the bone, and giblets to the Philippines. The agreement also includes a mutual recognition of the control and certification systems between the two countries, which is expected to streamline future approvals.
A statement from the Argentine Government this week confirmed that a 15-day period has been established for the official opening of the market. This also allows the Philippine Sanitary Service to begin evaluating the veterinary certificates submitted by Argentina to initiate exports.
The agreement highlights the equivalence between the control systems of both nations, which will facilitate the qualification of new Argentine establishments interested in exporting their meat products.
This deal resulted from collaboration between the Argentine Economy Ministry’s Agriculture, Livestock, and Fisheries Secretariat, the National Agri-Food Health and Quality Service (Senasa), and the Argentine Embassy in Manila. As part of the process, the Philippines conducted two visits this year to inspect and verify the official control system of Senasa for the production of beef, pork, and poultry meat.
In 2023, the Philippines imported meat and related products worth over $1.75 billion, reflecting a 17% year-on-year increase from January to October, according to the Philippines Department of Agriculture.
