KION GROUP AG, a leading Supply Chain Solutions provider, has teamed up with Accenture and NVIDIA to enhance supply chains using advanced AI and simulation technologies.

At the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas, the companies unveiled a solution to help clients optimize warehouse setups and continually improve existing facilities. This involves the use of Mega, an NVIDIA Omniverse blueprint designed for large-scale industrial digital twins, which simulates real-world environments. These digital twins, powered by AI models reflecting physical world principles, aim to improve intelligent warehouse performance, particularly in settings with automated forklifts, smart cameras, and other advanced automation solutions.

KION has highlighted AI-driven solutions as a critical component in optimizing supply chains, improving productivity, and streamlining warehouse operations. By combining NVIDIA’s AI capabilities with Accenture’s digital expertise, the partners are aiming to revolutionize warehouse automation, creating adaptable and efficient systems capable of addressing various supply chain challenges.

The collaboration is aligned with research from Wellesley Information Services, which identifies rising complexity and risks in supply chains as a major driver for transformation. The research also highlights the growing importance of AI and machine learning in supply chain operations, underscoring the increasing need for data-driven solutions to improve flexibility, sustainability, and overall supply chain performance.

NVIDIA’s Omniverse and Mega platforms offer a digital twin model, allowing KION to simulate and test warehouse configurations in a virtual environment without interrupting real-world operations. This includes optimizing the placement of robots, workers, and automation equipment for maximum efficiency. The digital twin also trains robots to adapt to changes in demand, inventory, and layout, ensuring they can handle shifting conditions seamlessly.

As part of the CES presentation, Accenture introduced an interactive application that tracks warehouse performance metrics, including throughput, task completion time, safety incidents, and error rates, based on the digital twin’s optimizations.

The partners are working on integrating a vision language model to provide real-time insights from the warehouse, further reducing operational disruptions and risks. This integration pairs cameras, robots, and NVIDIA’s NIM service to deploy foundation models on edge devices, improving real-time decision-making.

The vision for the future warehouse is one where both human workers and machines collaborate safely and efficiently, with predictive capabilities and data-driven insights to continuously optimize operations.

As part of its broader supply chain strategy, KION is also focused on integrating its solutions with leading ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle, and Microsoft Dynamics. By leveraging APIs and middleware, KION aims to synchronize its automation systems with ERP modules, enhancing visibility and demand forecasting across the supply chain.

Through these efforts, KION, NVIDIA, and Accenture are working to build smarter, more agile supply chains, reducing complexity and driving efficiency across industries.
