HANOI (Reuters) – Vietnam has expressed its readiness to engage in discussions with the United States regarding newly imposed tariffs on steel. The country aims to mitigate the risk of further duties, according to a statement from its foreign ministry.
Earlier this week, the U.S. imposed a 25% tariff on steel imports, impacting Vietnam, which is one of the major steel exporters to the U.S. The country may also face additional duties following the U.S. administration’s trade measures.
A spokesperson for Vietnam’s foreign ministry stated that the country is prepared to engage in constructive discussions with the U.S. to address the issue and seek solutions that benefit both sides.
