A US medical device technology provider has raised $22.5 million in seed and Series A funding to expand an integrated supply chain for orthotics, prosthetics, and durable medical equipment.
The investment will support the development of a connected model spanning referral processing, insurance authorization, clinical evaluation, digital scanning, device manufacturing, and delivery. The approach is designed to improve coordination across multiple stages of the medical device supply chain while supporting faster access to customized products.
Artificial intelligence is being incorporated into administrative processes to help manage referrals, insurance approvals, and payment workflows. At the clinical stage, mobile scanning technology enables healthcare professionals to capture measurements and place device orders through a unified digital process.
The company also operates an in-house manufacturing facility in Peoria, Illinois, using 3D printing to produce customized medical devices. Its existing production model has reduced turnaround times for custom insoles from weeks to days, while reported remake rates have improved from approximately one in 15 devices to one in 400.
The expanded platform is intended to connect administrative, clinical, manufacturing, and distribution activities within a single supply chain. This vertically integrated approach can provide greater coordination between healthcare providers and device production while supporting more responsive manufacturing.
The new funding will also support additional hiring in engineering, sales, and manufacturing as the platform expands beyond custom insoles into a wider range of durable medical equipment.
The development highlights a broader trend toward digital supply chain integration in healthcare, where artificial intelligence, mobile data capture, automated workflows, and additive manufacturing are being combined to connect demand with production more efficiently.
