Workforce development is taking a stronger role in the evolution of the United States supply chain sector, with industry leaders placing greater emphasis on training, education and technology readiness.

A logistics executive has been recognized as the overall winner of the 2026 Women in Supply Chain Forum Award in the Workforce Innovator category for contributions to workforce development and training.

Since joining her organization in 2021, she has helped establish a strategy and innovation function while supporting initiatives involving autonomous vehicles and artificial intelligence. Her work also includes overseeing business operations, employee development and training programs designed to help teams adapt to evolving logistics technologies.

The training function provides new employees with knowledge of operational systems and processes while offering ongoing development as digital tools and artificial intelligence capabilities continue to advance.

Workforce development also extends beyond individual organizations. As a founding board member of the Ohio Supply Chain Academic Network and chair of its Workforce and Education Committee, she supports programs that create pathways for students pursuing careers in supply chain and logistics.

The initiative reflects the growing connection between technology adoption and workforce readiness. Autonomous transportation, artificial intelligence and digital logistics systems require employees who understand both emerging technologies and the operational processes they support.

The recognition also highlights the increasing role of women in developing supply chain talent and creating educational pathways for the next generation of industry professionals.

The award recipient is scheduled to join other 2026 winners for a panel discussion at the Women in Supply Chain Forum in Charleston, South Carolina, in November.

As supply chains become increasingly technology driven, investment in education, training and continuous skills development can help organizations build a workforce prepared to support modern logistics operations and future supply chain innovation.
