In recent court proceedings, details have emerged regarding the alleged theft of high-value vehicles, including a £170,000 Range Rover owned by entrepreneur Maximillion Cooper. The accused individuals, led by Adel Chouhaib from Corby, are currently on trial for conspiring to burgle and conspiring to steal, with Chouhaib facing an additional charge of handling stolen goods.
The incident involving Maximillion Cooper’s Range Rover took place on June 28, 2021, in London’s Notting Hill. Cooper, known for his association with the Gumball rally, reached out to his followers on social media for assistance in locating his unique black Range Rover SVR, which he described as having a red shine.
The police eventually recovered the stolen Range Rover more than a year later, in September 2022, at the premises of GrabHire4U, a Wellingborough-based firm owned by Barry Mitchell, one of the individuals on trial. Text messages presented in court between Chouhaib and others involved in the alleged plot included videos of the stolen vehicle’s interior.
The trial has also brought to light other incidents, including the theft of paintings worth an estimated £1.6 million from the home of entrepreneur David Ross and the alleged involvement of the accused in stealing a Ford Transit tipper and an Ifor Williams trailer.
Prosecutors presented evidence of a series of events, including the use of stolen vehicles to remove a Kubota digger from Burghley Park Golf Club and the alleged theft of a JCB 8017 from Gretton Site investigations. The court was shown WhatsApp messages between the accused individuals discussing these events.
Furthermore, the trial has highlighted the involvement of the accused in the alleged theft of a trailer containing hundreds of Coca-Cola drinks, with messages sent from one of the accused’s phones offering the stolen goods for sale.
The proceedings continue as the court examines the evidence presented and hears testimony related to the charges against Adel Chouhaib, Barry Mitchell, Robert Mitchell, Suray Hamdi, and William Castle.
