Thai Energy Firm Expands Renewable Projects in the Philippines

In pursuit of its international expansion objectives, RATCH Group Public Company Ltd., a Thailand-based company, is advancing its renewable energy projects in the Philippines. The company is currently focused on the development of the Negros solar project, slated for completion this year, while also planning offshore wind ventures in Camarines Sur and Quezon province scheduled for 2025.

The Negros solar project has a capacity of 150 megawatts (MW), and RATCH Group is actively involved in the development of the Lucena offshore wind project in Quezon and the San Miguel Bay wind farm in Camarines Sur, each boasting a capacity of 450 MW. RATCH holds a 49% stake in Negros, Quezon, and Camarines Sur, ensuring secured returns for investors.

RATCH Group has reported the imminent completion of its 74 MW solar project in Calabanga, Camarines Sur, managed by its subsidiary, Calabanga Renewable Energy, Inc. Following completion, 85% of the energy generated will be supplied through a power supply contract to two Aboitiz Corporation companies. The remaining portion will be sold through direct short-term contracts with commercial and contestable consumers or through the Wholesale Electricity Spot Market (WESM).
