Western Sydney’s industry growth continues with the unveiling of the proposed design for Bradfield City Centre’s Second Building. Planned to coincide with the opening of the new Western Sydney International Airport, the Second Building will host stage two of the Advanced Manufacturing Research Facility (AMRF), initiating a new ecosystem for industry innovation and development. Jennifer Westacott AO, Chair of the Western Parkland City Authority, stated that this project represents a significant step in the development of Australia’s newest city. “Second Building will be a thriving global economic hub and a focal point for advanced manufacturing in Western Sydney,” she said. “It will create nearly 300 jobs during construction and over 400 positions for engineers, researchers, support staff, and high-tech businesses once completed. “The AMRF is designed to promote collaboration, and Second Building will serve as a catalyst for a new innovation ecosystem at Bradfield City Centre.”

The facility will span three levels and over 12,000 square meters, situated opposite Bradfield City Centre’s First Building, establishing the new city as a center for innovation and research. The Second Building will feature space for industry tenants, an advanced manufacturing hall, research laboratories including cleanrooms, and publicly accessible green space. The AMRF will be located in this building, focusing on micro-electronics and semiconductor packaging, supporting manufacturing businesses to expand and contribute to Western Sydney’s economic growth. Architectus, in collaboration with Aileen Sage Architects and Jacobs, designed the Second Building. The design emphasizes advanced functionality, sustainability, and Connection to Country, setting a high standard for the evolving city.
