Sam Ekuban Awoodzie serves as the Executive Secretary and primary representative for the Brick & Tile Manufacturers of Ghana. In this capacity, he leads the association’s strategic efforts to represent local clay brick and tile producers, with a primary focus on building capacity to improve product quality and skilled workmanship within the manufacturing sector. Under Mr Awoodzie’s stewardship, the association has formalised critical partnerships with the Building and Road Research Institute, the Ghana Standards Authority, and the Ghana Geological Survey Authority to ensure that all member products adhere to the highest technical standards. He oversees a diverse membership that includes not only manufacturers but also architects, engineers, and project managers, ensuring a comprehensive and interdisciplinary approach to project execution. He is particularly focused on the intersection of project management and international business as a means to drive sectoral growth and industrial resilience.

Organisation

The Brick & Tile Manufacturers of Ghana is a professional association headquartered in Tema, dedicated to the advancement of the construction materials and manufacturing sector. The organisation represents a broad spectrum of producers specialising in burnt bricks, roof tiles, floor tiles, and ceramic building products, while also providing essential advisory and construction services. By advocating for the use of local clay resources, the association seeks to address national housing deficits and promote sustainable industrialisation. The organisation operates primarily within Ghana but is strategically positioned to serve the broader African sub-region, focusing on import substitution and the expansion of the local manufacturing base into international markets.

Areas of Focus

  • Sustainable industrialisation and the promotion of import substitution.
  • Supply chain resilience within the construction and building materials sector.
  • Standardisation and quality assurance in manufacturing processes.
  • Export growth and market access strategies within the African Continental Free Trade Area.

At the Forum

At the International Trade Council Global Convocation & Leadership Forum, Mr Awoodzie intends to explore new avenues for expanding the export footprint of Ghana’s manufacturing sector. He seeks to engage with international trade officials and senior business leaders at the House of Lords and Guildhall to discuss strategies for market access and the integration of local producers into global supply chains. Furthermore, he aims to identify collaborative opportunities for infrastructure development and to share insights on the role of sustainable building materials in fostering economic resilience across the African continent.
