FedEx Corp. (NYSE: FDX), through its subsidiaries FedEx Logistics and FedEx Express, has announced the introduction of the FedEx Less-than-Container Load (LCL) Priority service. This innovative offering aims to provide a customs-cleared, port-to-door and door-to-door shipping solution that strikes a strategic balance between speed and cost-efficiency, setting a new standard in logistics efficiency. The service is designed to enhance connectivity between the Asia Pacific region and key markets in the Middle East, utilizing a comprehensive ocean and road network integration.

With trade between the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries and Asia projected to reach US$578 billion by 2030, the LCL Priority service is poised to facilitate the growing economic relationships between these regions. The service aims to support the burgeoning trade dynamics, offering a solution that is both agile and responsive to the needs of businesses operating within this vital trading corridor.

Edward Hui, Vice President of Asia, Middle East, and Africa at FedEx Logistics, emphasized the critical role of ocean trade in maintaining the flow of goods and supporting economic development across continents. “The FedEx LCL Priority service is designed as a holistic logistics approach, aiming to redefine how trade is conducted between the Asia Pacific and the Middle East. By focusing on innovation, we offer a solution that not only streamlines shipping processes but also adapts to the ever-changing trade landscape between these dynamic regions,” Hui stated.

Taarek Hinedi, Vice President of Middle East and Africa Operations at FedEx Express, highlighted the significance of the FedEx Middle East Road Network (MERN) in this strategic offering. The network facilitates efficient distribution to major Middle Eastern markets, particularly benefiting Asia Pacific businesses shipping to the UAE. “This combined ocean-road solution, leveraging the extensive FedEx network, optimizes delivery by focusing on cost, time, and convenience, thereby supporting businesses in elevating their shipping strategies to meet the demands of the global trade environment,” Hinedi added.

The LCL Priority service offers customizable shipping experiences to meet the diverse needs of businesses, whether they prioritize speed or cost-effectiveness. By providing a single point of contact at FedEx, the service simplifies shipping operations for businesses and mitigates the complexity associated with managing multiple freight forwarding relationships. Additionally, its end-to-end tracking and tracing capabilities enhance transparency and operational efficiency from port to door.

This new service is expected to reduce transit times by approximately 8 to 10 days compared to traditional ocean freight from the Asia Pacific to the Middle East, facilitating faster customs clearance and contributing to improved speed, efficiency, and cost management in shipping operations.
