The Philippines is strengthening market opportunities for micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) through an expanded national trade fair program, with sales expected to exceed ₱1 billion in 2026.
The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) is targeting more than ₱1 billion in sales from at least 13 national trade fairs, representing a significant increase from the ₱700 million recorded last year. The target covers national events and excludes regional trade fairs.
The program is designed to connect MSMEs from all 18 regions with buyers, suppliers and potential business partners, creating additional channels for product distribution and market expansion.
One of the featured events is the five-day Coconut Philippines Trade Fair in Manila, which brings together around 300 MSMEs from the coconut sector. Products span food, wellness, personal care, furniture and fashion, demonstrating the growing range of applications across the coconut value chain.
A dedicated business lounge at the event provides entrepreneurs with opportunities to engage with prospective partners and suppliers. The initiative also highlights value addition through processing, product development, design, packaging and distribution.
From a supply chain perspective, the expanded trade fair program supports stronger connections between producers, processors, suppliers, buyers and markets. By promoting higher-value products and improving access to commercial networks, the initiative can help MSMEs develop more integrated domestic and international supply chains.
