The Philippine Departments of Trade and Industry (DTI) and Agriculture have initiated a mission to the Middle East, aiming to enhance trade partnerships and expand market access for the country’s agricultural and fisheries products. The mission, scheduled from February 9 to 21, 2025, includes engagements in Qatar, Jordan, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
This initiative aligns with an agreement formalized between the DTI and the Department of Agriculture during the 2024 National Export Congress. The agreement focuses on improving the global competitiveness of Philippine agribusiness by streamlining value chains, promoting value-added processing, and ensuring adherence to international standards.
A delegation of 26 exporters is participating in the mission, engaging in store visits, supplier meetings, and business matching activities in Doha, Amman, Riyadh, and Dubai. The itinerary includes meetings with regulatory bodies such as the Qatar Ministry of Public Health and the Saudi Food and Drug Authority to address market entry requirements and compliance issues.
Business-to-business meetings have already taken place in Doha and Amman on February 9 and 11, respectively. Similar activities are planned for Riyadh and Dubai on February 12 and 14.
The mission will culminate at Gulfood 2025, one of the world’s largest food and beverage sourcing events. The event will showcase the quality, sustainability, and competitiveness of Philippine exports. The Philippine delegation is extending invitations to buyers, distributors, and industry stakeholders to participate in business matching sessions and connect with exporters offering high-quality frozen and fresh produce, processed food, and personal care products.
This mission reflects the Philippines’ ongoing efforts to strengthen its presence in the Middle Eastern market and promote its agricultural and fisheries sectors on a global scale.
