Brick & Tile Manufacturers of Ghana to Represent Regional Industrial Interests at London Trade Forum

LONDON, United Kingdom — Sam Ekuban Awoodzie, the Executive Secretary of the Brick & Tile Manufacturers of Ghana, will represent the nation’s clay construction materials sector at the International Trade Council Global Convocation & Leadership Forum. Taking place across various venues in London from 26 to 28 November 2026, the forum serves as a high-level platform for the association to engage with international trade officials and senior business leaders to discuss sustainable manufacturing and the expansion of the African construction supply chain.

Based in Tema, the Brick & Tile Manufacturers of Ghana is a professional body dedicated to the advancement of local clay-based building materials. The association represents a diverse membership including manufacturers of burnt bricks, roof tiles, and ceramic products, alongside architects, engineers, and estate developers. By fostering skilled workmanship and improving product quality, the organisation ensures a steady supply of durable materials for both residential housing and large-scale infrastructure projects across Ghana. Its operations include a sales depot at Kpone Kokompe, supporting the wider distribution of locally made goods.

A primary objective of the association is to reduce the dependency on imported construction materials by advocating for the use of locally sourced clay. This initiative directly addresses Ghana’s housing deficit while promoting sustainable industrialization within the sub-region. Through active partnerships with the Ghana Standards Authority, the Building and Road Research Institute, and the Ghana Geological Survey Authority, the association maintains rigorous quality benchmarks. Its products hold clay characterisation test reports from the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research, ensuring they meet the technical requirements for both domestic and international markets.

At the London forum, the association intends to explore new export pathways within the African continent and beyond. As economic integration increases across the region, the Brick & Tile Manufacturers of Ghana views international collaboration as a prerequisite for scaling its industrial operations. Mr Awoodzie’s participation underscores the organisation’s commitment to integrating local manufacturing into the global trade landscape, focusing on supply chain resilience and the efficient use of indigenous raw materials to replace carbon-intensive imports.

The association’s work extends beyond manufacturing to community development and technical advisory services. In 2019, the organisation completed a corporate social responsibility project involving the construction of brick benches at Kimbu Gardens for public use. By integrating horticulturists and project managers into its membership, the association provides a comprehensive approach to urban design and infrastructure. This multidisciplinary strategy ensures that the use of clay products contributes to both the aesthetic and functional goals of modern African architecture.

Our participation in this global forum marks a deliberate step toward positioning Ghanaian clay products within a broader international framework. We have spent years refining our manufacturing processes and ensuring our materials meet strict quality certifications, and the next phase of our development involves establishing robust trade links across the African continent and reaching new export markets.

By focusing on the inherent value of local raw materials, we can offer sustainable alternatives to imported building supplies while strengthening our domestic industrial base. I look forward to discussing how we can better align our production capabilities with global supply chain requirements and identifying partners who share our vision for durable, locally sourced infrastructure solutions.

The three-day programme in London provides a unique opportunity for the Brick & Tile Manufacturers of Ghana to showcase the viability of its sector to a global audience. By participating in high-level discussions on market access and trade transparency, the association aims to gain insights into the regulatory and logistical frameworks necessary to support its transition from a domestic producer to a regional exporter of high-quality construction materials.
