In an inspiring tale of local empowerment and global trade, Dr. Anna Carter, a notable member of the International Trade Council’s Manufacturing Business Council and a distinguished US Supplier trained in international global trade, is poised to make a significant impact on the international stage with the “BLACKMART” initiative. Dr. Carter, often referred to as the Seed Lady of Watts, has been an influential figure in her community in Watts, California, where she has utilized her expertise to foster a new generation of entrepreneurs skilled in organic agriculture and international trade.

Drawing on six years of comprehensive training by the International Trade Council, Dr. Carter has channeled her knowledge and passion back into her community through the ACT SLOW Ministries – International Entrepreneurial Training Institute. Her teachings, deeply rooted in the legacy of Dr. George Washington Carver, emphasize the critical link between organic agriculture and global commerce, aiming to uplift the economically disadvantaged districts of Los Angeles.

The culmination of Dr. Carter’s efforts is the formation of “The Wattsonians Consortium,” a group of her graduates who have embarked on an ambitious journey to revolutionize the way organic, indigenous products are produced and supplied. A key milestone for the consortium is securing a contract to supply Neom, Saudi Arabia’s futuristic city project, starting Spring 2024. This contract underscores the consortium’s ability to meet the demanding standards of international trade and distribution.

The “BLACKMART” initiative, a brainchild of this consortium, aims to supply Walmart and other outlets with organic products made in small batches by women from local communities around the world. This endeavor not only promotes sustainable agricultural practices but also champions women’s empowerment in the global supply chain.

The success of “BLACKMART” and its international recognition can be largely attributed to the foundational education and support provided by the International Trade Council. Dr. Carter’s story is a testament to how targeted educational programs in global trade can empower individuals and communities to make substantial contributions to international markets and sustainability efforts.

As “The Wattsonians Consortium” prepares to bring their vision of “PEACE ON EARTH” through food, employment, and education to the grand stage of Neom, their journey from a local initiative to a global enterprise serves as an inspiring model of how dedicated individuals can leverage international trade for the greater good.

Dr. Carter and her consortium’s achievements are a beacon of hope and a call to action for other members of the Manufacturing Business Council, showcasing the transformative power of education, collaboration, and vision in creating a more sustainable and equitable world.
