The United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Indonesia have signed several agreements and memoranda of understanding to enhance collaboration across multiple sectors, including technology, renewable energy, health, tourism, and infrastructure. The agreements were finalized during a ceremony at the Qasr Al Watan Palace in Abu Dhabi, as part of a visit by Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto.
The agreements were signed by key officials, including UAE Energy Minister Suhail Al Mazrouei and Indonesian Foreign Minister Sugiono, covering diverse areas such as international maritime cooperation, government modernization, mining, and investments. The event was attended by UAE President Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, who highlighted the importance of Subianto’s visit in further strengthening bilateral ties.
Both leaders emphasized the historical relationship between the two nations and the significant progress achieved in recent years. President Al Nahyan underscored the shared commitment to boosting trade, setting a target to increase the non-oil trade volume between the UAE and Indonesia to $10 billion through a comprehensive economic partnership agreement.
In 2022, non-oil trade between the two nations grew by 12%, reaching a value of $4.6 billion. The two leaders also discussed various regional and international issues of mutual interest. Subianto expressed optimism about the agreements, viewing them as an opportunity to foster greater collaboration for the benefit of both nations.
