Ferrero has expanded its manufacturing campus in Bloomington, Illinois, with a 70,000ft² addition that will enable on-site chocolate processing. This expansion enhances the company’s presence in North America and Illinois. Ferrero currently produces Butterfinger and Baby Ruth products in Franklin Park and Keebler products on 110th Street in Chicago. Alanna Cotton, president and CBO of Ferrero North America, stated: “Bringing Ferrero’s extensive experience in making high-quality chocolate to Illinois, a central hub of America’s food and confections industry, will help us achieve our goal of leading the sweets and treats market.”
Cotton added, “Ferrero and Bloomington will continue to thrive together in the coming years.” Ferrero announced that the Bloomington site, which already produces CRUNCH, 100 Grand, and Raisinets, will soon include a new $214 million Kinder Bueno production facility, expected to create 200 additional local jobs upon its opening later this year. Illinois Governor JB Pritzker remarked: “The exceptional talent and infrastructure in Central Illinois are contributing to the growth of Ferrero’s iconic brands, including CRUNCH, 100 Grand, Raisinets, and soon Kinder Bueno.”
Pritzker added, “Ferrero’s Bloomington facility, now hosting the company’s first chocolate factory outside of Europe, showcases Illinois’ manufacturing capabilities to the world.” Bloomington Mayor Mboka Mwilambwe described Ferrero’s investment as “a key driver of the significant growth of our community,” expressing optimism about future prosperity together. Ferrero’s expansion in North America includes investments in new capacity and capabilities at its Ontario plant and the addition of distribution centers in Pennsylvania, Georgia, and Arizona. The company has also invested in Oregon’s hazelnut growers. Ferrero now employs over 5,100 individuals across eight offices and 12 plants and warehouses in the US, Canada, and the Caribbean.
