The Infocomm Media Development Authority (IMDA) of Singapore has recently awarded the Data Protection Trustmark (DPTM) certification to Huawei International Pte. Ltd, a subsidiary of Huawei in Singapore.

This certification, DPTM, is awarded to companies that demonstrate full compliance with the Personal Data Protection Act of Singapore. With over 80 companies having received this certification to date, Huawei International joins this select group, highlighting its commitment to data protection and privacy. The certification acknowledges the company’s adherence to rigorous standards in data collection, use, and disclosure.

Foo Fang Yong, the CEO of Huawei International, emphasized the significance of this achievement, stating that personal data protection is both a legal obligation and a social responsibility. The certification is a testament to Huawei’s dedication to ensuring the protection of personal data across its customer base, suppliers, partners, employees, and other stakeholders. He affirmed that privacy protection has been integrated into the company’s daily business processes and is in compliance with laws and regulations across the jurisdictions where Huawei operates.

In Singapore, Huawei has played a pivotal role in advancing network infrastructure over the past twenty years, working closely with local telecom operators. The company has been instrumental in supporting Singapore’s digitalization initiatives and has introduced a range of smart devices to the market. As technologies like cloud computing and big data evolve, Huawei is enhancing its capabilities to offer stable, secure, and sustainable cloud services to local businesses. The establishment of its regional Asia Pacific headquarters in Singapore for enterprise and cloud business underlines its commitment to aiding local businesses in their digital and global expansion. Huawei is also contributing to Singapore’s Green Plan 2030 through digital power technologies and collaborations with local partners.

Huawei’s partnership with the Cyber Security Agency of Singapore (CSA) under the SG Cyber Safe Partnership Programme reflects its active role in enhancing cybersecurity measures and awareness in Singapore. This partnership involves assisting businesses and organizations in strengthening their cybersecurity defenses.
