The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) of Nigeria has apprehended 792 individuals engaged in extensive cryptocurrency fraud and romance scams. These arrests, conducted on December 10 in Lagos, involved individuals of various nationalities, including Chinese, Filipino, and Kazakh citizens. The suspects were discovered operating from a facility located in Victoria Island, where they trained Nigerian accomplices to carry out fraudulent schemes. These operations predominantly targeted individuals in North America and Europe, employing deceptive online investment platforms and romantic tactics to defraud victims. The EFCC is collaborating with international partners to evaluate the full scope of these activities.
