India is strengthening its position in the global seafood trade, with Vizag Port handling more than 50% of the country’s marine product exports in FY2025 and FY2026.
The port’s share of seafood shipments increased from 29.67% in March 2024 to 50.87% in March 2025, highlighting its growing role as a key export gateway.
Seafood exports from Andhra Pradesh also expanded significantly, with the value of products shipped from the state rising from $2.19 billion in FY2024 to $4.25 billion in FY2026.
Strong international demand for shrimp, frozen fish, cuttlefish, squid, and crab is supporting the growth, while the state’s extensive aquaculture industry continues to provide a strong production base.
The performance highlights the importance of efficient port infrastructure and export connectivity in supporting India’s expanding role in global food supply chains.
Vizag Port’s growing seafood volumes demonstrate how strong production capacity, efficient logistics, and international demand can combine to strengthen a country’s position in global trade.
