The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) has launched the ‘Kaagapay’ Donations Portal, an online platform that makes it easier for people to donate directly to those in need. Assistant Secretary Ana Maria Paz Rafael from the DSWD’s Partnership Building and Resource Mobilization Office explained that this portal ensures that donations go straight to the recipients without going through the DSWD.
The portal has a real-time dashboard so that users can see how much money has been raised and how many people have donated. It also showcases organizations, including private groups, non-profits, and community organizations, that provide essential services to vulnerable communities. This feature helps potential donors understand these organizations’ goals and the specific groups they help.
To make donating easier, the ‘Kaagapay’ portal includes payment options like Maya and GCash, simplifying the donation process. For disaster relief, the platform only accepts cash donations through digital methods to avoid issues with perishable items. People who want to donate goods can send them directly to selected DSWD Centers and Residential Care Facilities or partner organizations. The portal also connects donors with delivery services, which they will need to pay for.
The launch of the ‘Kaagapay’ Donations Portal is part of the DSWD’s push for digital advancements, revealed during its 74th anniversary celebration under the theme “Bawat Pamilyang Pilipino ay Mahalaga sa Bagong Pilipinas.” This platform aims to help social welfare organizations connect directly with donors, improving the reach and effectiveness of social services in the country.
Local government units (LGUs) can also use the ‘Kaagapay’ portal to link up with donors, making it easier to receive cash donations online or in-kind contributions during emergencies. This effort supports President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.’s goal of improving government operations and enhancing social services.
The DSWD invites all partners and interested individuals to get involved with the ‘Kaagapay’ Donations Portal, promoting a more cooperative and effective approach to social welfare and development in the Philippines.
