NASSCOM has introduced “The Developer’s Playbook for Responsible AI,” a thorough framework intended to assist AI developers in India in managing the risks linked to the commercial deployment and utilization of AI technologies. The playbook was launched at the inaugural Confluence for Responsible Intelligence (RICON) in New Delhi and serves as a voluntary guide for the identification and mitigation of AI-related risks.
This initiative, which is supported by Anand and Anand, highlights a collective commitment between the Government of India and NASSCOM to foster a unified framework for AI risk management. It has undergone meticulous review by experts from diverse sectors, including industry, government, and academia, thereby ensuring a balanced approach to AI governance that prioritizes ethical considerations and societal welfare.
Prominent figures, such as Shri Abhishek Singh, Additional Secretary of the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, and Sangeeta Gupta, Senior Vice President at NASSCOM, underscored the significance of the playbook in promoting a responsible AI ecosystem in India. The document is aligned with the IndiaAI Mission’s Safe and Trusted AI pillar, with the aim of harmonizing risk management practices across the public and private sectors. This initiative positions India as a potential global leader in the ethical and safe development of AI.
By providing clear guidance on best practices, the playbook is anticipated to assist developers in creating AI systems that are secure, ethical, and in alignment with national interests, while simultaneously allowing for adaptability in an ever-evolving technological landscape.
