in Global Trade

China has reaffirmed its commitment to expanding domestic demand and maintaining a high level of openness to international trade, while supporting efforts to promote greater balance across the global economy.

Speaking at the G20 Finance Ministers and Central Bank Governors meeting, China’s central bank governor emphasized the importance of structural reforms, stronger consumption, and increased investment to support sustainable economic growth.

The discussion also highlighted the close connection between trade policies and global supply chains. Greater predictability in international trade can support smoother movement of goods, improve business planning, and strengthen cross-border production networks.

China also emphasized that economies with trade deficits and surpluses each have roles to play in addressing global imbalances. Increasing domestic consumption and investment in surplus economies, alongside fiscal and savings reforms in deficit economies, could contribute to a more balanced international trading environment.

The meeting underscores the importance of cooperation, open markets, and coordinated economic policies in strengthening global trade networks and supporting resilient supply chains.
