Sangamner, Nashik, India — The Pitch Perfect: Business Model Idea Pitching Symposium, hosted by the Entrepreneurship Development Cell and Amrutvahini Innovation Centre at AVCOE, Sangamner, served as a vibrant platform for emerging entrepreneurs to present their innovative business models. The event, held on October 3rd, 2024, was part of the zonal rounds for Eureka 2024, Asia’s largest business model competition organized by the Entrepreneurship Cell (E-Cell) at IIT Bombay.
CE Shreekant Patil, a prominent entrepreneur and expert in international business development, was invited as the chief guest and jury member for the symposium. Known for his extensive contributions to entrepreneurship and his support for Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs), Patil delivered a keynote address focused on startup ecosystems and effective pitching strategies. Drawing from his global experience in initiatives such as LEAN MSME and ZED MSME, as well as affiliations with institutions like the European Economic and Business Council, EBRD, AfDB, and the European Commission, he shared valuable insights aimed at fostering innovation and business acumen among the participants.
The symposium featured 65 startup groups, out of an initial 100 applicants, who presented their business ideas in front of an esteemed panel of industry experts. The event consisted of two rounds of evaluations, culminating in the selection of three top teams that will represent AVCOE at Eureka 2024, set to take place at IIT Bombay’s E-Summit. Winners of the final competition will gain the opportunity to compete alongside peers from across Asia, highlighting the talent and entrepreneurial spirit fostered within the institution.
The day-long event, which took place at JRD Tata Hall on the AVCOE campus, began with a formal inauguration by CE Shreekant Patil and a welcome note by Principal Dr. Venkatesh. The proceedings also included remarks from faculty members such as Dr. Bajaj, Dr. Wackchaure, Dr. Ragtate, and Dr. Bayas, who praised the quality and creativity of the business pitches.
In addition to the competition, the symposium marked the inauguration of a new incubation center at AVCOE, sanctioned by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE). The facility was presented to CE Shreekant Patil by Dr. Venkatesh and Dr. Bajaj, with discussions centering on mentorship opportunities, faculty development initiatives, and strategies to enhance the campus’s entrepreneurial ecosystem.
The event concluded with the announcement of the winning teams and an interactive feedback session, where Patil, alongside other jury members, offered strategic advice to the aspiring entrepreneurs on refining their business models. The selected teams will now prepare for the next stage of the competition, representing AVCOE on a national stage.
Through his participation, CE Shreekant Patil emphasized the importance of nurturing young talent and creating supportive environments for entrepreneurship, particularly in rural and semi-urban regions. His involvement underscores a continued commitment to empowering MSMEs and encouraging innovative thinking among the next generation of business leaders.
The Pitch Perfect symposium not only served as a competitive platform but also as an opportunity for young entrepreneurs to gain exposure, network with industry veterans, and refine their business strategies in preparation for future opportunities.
