In an effort to strengthen business ties between China and Morocco, a delegation from Dongfeng Automobile Corporation, a prominent Chinese automotive manufacturer, visited Casablanca on October 8, 2024. The visit, organized by Global Chinese Motors, a subsidiary of Bugshan Automotive Group, included a tour of the SORIAC assembly unit in Berrechid, highlighting Morocco’s strategic role as a base for Chinese investments in Africa.
During the discussions, Dongfeng explored Morocco’s growing market potential and its role as a key logistics hub for African operations. A memorandum of understanding was signed, outlining plans to establish an automotive technology training academy in Morocco, which would support technical skills development and job creation across Africa. Additional projects include the creation of a logistics center to export spare parts and the introduction of electric and hybrid vehicles to meet the rising demand for sustainable transportation.
Li Junzhi, General Manager of Dongfeng Automobile Corporation, highlighted the company’s long-term commitment to Africa and Morocco, while Khadraoui, Brand Manager at Global Chinese Motors, expressed optimism about the partnership and the future of Morocco’s automotive sector.
