Caverton Marine Advocates for Safe Water Transport

in Logistics & Transportation

Caverton Marine has emphasized the importance of safety in the marine transportation sector, urging industry stakeholders to focus on enhancing safety measures across the country’s waterways to foster growth in the industry.

During a stakeholders’ meeting on safety and security held in Abuja, Chief Executive Officer Olabode Makanjuola presented the company’s vision for safe water transportation in Nigeria. The meeting was organized by the National Inland Waters Authority and chaired by the Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Gboyega Oyetola.

Makanjuola highlighted Caverton’s commitment to safety as a cornerstone of its operations, particularly within the oil and gas logistics sector. He stated, “Today marks a significant milestone not just for Caverton but for the future of water transportation in Nigeria. Our track record in aviation logistics demonstrates our commitment to transporting valuable cargo safely, whether it involves personnel or equipment.”

The CEO outlined the company’s plans to extend its safety standards to the water transportation sector, noting that its vessels are equipped with advanced safety features and that crew members undergo comprehensive safety training and certification. He also mentioned that the company adheres to strict maintenance schedules, safety protocols, and real-time monitoring systems to ensure operational safety.

Makanjuola expressed optimism about the potential of Nigeria’s waterways, which he described as underutilized natural highways. “We see the need for an operator who prioritizes safety at all times. This isn’t just about transportation—it’s about transformation,” he said.

The company aims to set a new standard for water transportation in Nigeria, leveraging its expertise in oil and gas logistics to serve broader transportation needs. Makanjuola stated, “The future of water transportation in Nigeria is safe, reliable, and professional. That future begins with Caverton.”

Earlier this year, Caverton announced a partnership with the Lagos State Government, resulting in the launch of 25 locally built Omnibus FRP 40-passenger ferries to enhance waterway transportation. This initiative, part of a public-private partnership, aims to improve the state’s transportation infrastructure and contribute to sustainable development goals.

Caverton Marine, a subsidiary of Caverton Offshore Support Group Plc, is actively expanding its operations beyond Lagos State. The company is pursuing partnerships in water transportation with other states, including Anambra and Edo State, and is in advanced discussions with national governments across Africa to increase its presence on the continent in areas such as aviation, training, and water transport.
