China is advancing digital trade finance as fintech and AI help small and medium-sized exporters navigate cross-border payments, supply-chain disruptions and changing global markets. At the XTransfer Summit 26 in Shenzhen, more than 4,500 trade enterprises, 50+ financial institutions and industry experts discussed how digital solutions can support businesses amid geopolitical uncertainty and logistics volatility.
SMEs continue to demonstrate strong adaptability, quickly responding to changing demand and emerging opportunities across global markets. However, cross-border payments remain a key challenge, with businesses facing complex account-opening requirements, compliance procedures, currency volatility and delays in international settlements.
AI-powered risk management and local-currency payment networks are helping address these barriers by making trade finance more efficient, secure and accessible. By connecting SMEs with financial institutions and payment infrastructure across multiple markets, fintech is helping strengthen the foundations of global trade and enabling more businesses to participate in international commerce.
