AM Green and DP World have entered into a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to advance the development of a global supply chain for green fuels. The partnership, formalized in December 2024, aims to export 1 million tonnes per annum (mtpa) of green ammonia and 1 mtpa of methanol, supporting worldwide decarbonization efforts.
The MoU includes the joint development of logistics and storage infrastructure to facilitate these exports. Key aspects of the partnership include building port infrastructure at AM Green’s Net-Zero Industrial Clusters for global exports, establishing bunkering infrastructure across Dubai, India, and Southeast Asia for green ammonia and methanol supplied from AM Green’s production plants, and creating strategic terminal infrastructure across the European Union, Far East, and UAE.
AM Green’s portfolio includes multiple projects across India that focus on producing sustainable aviation fuel (SAF), green ammonia, green hydrogen, chemicals, and biofuels using renewable energy sources. The company has set a target to achieve a production capacity of 5 mtpa by 2030.
The first milestone for the partnership is the development of a 1 mtpa green ammonia plant in Kakinada, Andhra Pradesh, India. The plant is expected to begin production in August 2024, with the majority of the output aimed at the European market. AM Green has awarded an engineering, procurement services, construction management, and commissioning services (EPsCM) contract to Rely for the project.
Mahesh Kolli, Founder of Greenko Group & AM Green, emphasized the company’s commitment to supporting India’s green energy ambitions and expressed enthusiasm about partnering with DP World to build the infrastructure needed for the global export of sustainable fuels. He noted that this partnership would enhance the global green supply chain and contribute to the transition to a low-carbon economy.
Yuvraj Narayan, Group Deputy CEO and CFO of DP World, highlighted the company’s commitment to sustainability and global trade, stating that their collaboration with AM Green will support the distribution of clean fuels and chemicals, advancing global sustainability goals and promoting a low-carbon economy.
