Under the arrangement, the Convoy Platform — the digital marketplace and automated freight‑matching tech acquired by DAT from Flexport in mid‑2025 — has been deeply integrated into the AscendTMS transportation management system (TMS), which serves many small‑ and mid‑sized freight brokers and carriers. This integration has now gone live for AscendTMS customers, making it possible to digitally match loads and carriers, negotiate pricing and execute the full freight transaction within the TMS environment.
In practice, brokers and shippers using AscendTMS can post loads to the DAT load board, which then flows into the Convoy Platform’s automation layer. The system digitally identifies and pairs loads with vetted carriers, manages bid acceptance and dispatch data, and coordinates documentation and settlement — reducing manual touch points and accelerating transaction cycles. Previously, such steps often required separate portals or manual interaction, but the integrated model aims to centralise freight matching, execution and payment in a single suite.
DAT and AscendTMS leaders describe the Convoy Platform as a neutral digital conduit (rather than acting itself as a broker), enabling brokers to retain operational control while benefiting from advanced automation — a service pitched as especially valuable amid margin pressure, capacity challenges and rising fraud risks in digital load marketplaces.
