Kyrgyzstan has begun operations at a $260 million fertilizer plant in the southwestern part of the country, marking a significant development for its agricultural supply chain and domestic production capacity.
The facility is expected to produce up to 500,000 metric tons of humic urea and compound fertilizers annually once fully operational. The output will support local agricultural demand while creating opportunities for exports and foreign exchange generation.
The project is also expected to contribute to broader economic activity by creating around 3,000 local jobs and supporting related sectors, including logistics and chemical manufacturing. Increased domestic fertilizer production can strengthen connections between agricultural producers, manufacturing facilities, transportation networks, and distribution channels.
As part of the launch, 200 metric tons of specialized fertilizer for urban greening were donated to Bishkek and Osh, supporting parks, roadside vegetation, and other public green spaces.
The fertilizer project, formally established through an agreement signed at the 2023 China Central Asia Summit, represents expanded cooperation in agricultural production and regional supply chain development. Its operations are expected to enhance Kyrgyzstan’s domestic fertilizer availability while supporting agricultural productivity and regional trade.
