US Strengthens Domestic Semiconductor Supply Chain

in Supply chain and Logistics

The United States is expanding domestic semiconductor sourcing for connected home appliances through a new manufacturing partnership focused on integrating U.S.-made chips into next-generation laundry products.

Beginning in 2027, approximately one-third of the semiconductor components used in products manufactured at a new laundry production facility in Louisville, Kentucky, will be supplied by a U.S. semiconductor manufacturer.

The initiative highlights the growing role of domestic semiconductor production in strengthening manufacturing supply chains. By incorporating locally produced components into appliance manufacturing, producers can build closer connections between chip suppliers and finished-goods production facilities.

The move also reflects the increasing importance of semiconductors across connected appliances, where chips support digital controls, connectivity and automated functions.

For the wider manufacturing sector, closer coordination between semiconductor producers and appliance manufacturers can improve supply chain visibility while supporting domestic production capabilities and technology integration.

As manufacturers continue investing in connected products, partnerships between domestic component suppliers and production facilities are expected to play an increasingly important role in developing resilient U.S. supply chains.
